history of idokan

IDO is an anglo-japanese word meaning [ I]nfinite [DO] way, and the history of [idokan] begins with prof wally strauss 10th dan, an austrian who studied [judo do] and [jujitsu] under prof. julius fleck in europe, he also studied karate, pankration, and tai chi while living in china, and it was tai chi, that later became one of the important [cornerstones] in the development of the infinite way [ido]. prof. strauss came to australia in the 1950s, and started teaching a form of judo [judo do] and [jujitsu] in melbourne, and later developed his own style or system [idokan], at that time his organization was called the [jiujitsu, judo, and karate instructors association of aus], and later, with the development of [ido], karate was then dropped from the name, and it became [the jiu jitsu, and judo instructors association [idokan], and prof. strauss stated that, [ido] is [evolutionary], but its future development must be according to the principles laid down by him. and with this in mind, [ido] will go on evolving in what is known as the [ infinite way]

after prof. strauss died in 1988, the administration of idokan, sadly went to europe, where it remains to this day, where it has been taken in a different direction, and philosophical base, by those, [who inherited the name idokan], and not much else, and who [never] actually came to australia, in all those years and [actually] trained with the [founder of idokan], prof. wally strauss, at [honbu dojo kilsyth], or dandenong, including some locals, who make bogus claims about being trained in ido, but i never saw them, and gerald degen, a senior idokan instructor, didnt see them either, also, giving the ido name a different meaning, and changing its character, its [fundamental principles unknown to them], and embracing the [naive] notion of bushido, as a sort of [honourable warrior code], which prof. strauss had seen first hand, [in detention, by the japanese in ww2] and opposed this notion, and once gave me a note, taken from the chushingura, the loyal 47, which reads, [slaughter and rapine, the samurai s daily deeds], but i suppose some prefer romance and fantasy, much like their thoughts on ido.
